It’s early. It’s a new week. Exciting things are ahead both for today and days from now. But it’s still Monday morning.
Early this morning I read an email which was sent to multiple people.
It was not directed to me specifically, but, I was inspired by it’s simple message.
But then maybe it was for me.
I considered it a gift.
Here it is.
“Hot water in my shower – the small things in life…mmhmm.”
I immediately began to think of the small things in my own life.
The easily forgotten.
The not noticed events that we miss or overlook and never take full appreciation of.
An automatic garage door that opens and closes.
A can opener that actually works.
A hard pillow, a soft pillow. A perfect combination.
A car that starts.
Dogs that love me.
A front door.
Running water, both hot and cold.
A pen with ink in it.
Things we may not consider every day, but important nonetheless.
“There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number-living things both large and small.” From the writings of King David.
The ocean, is difficult for me to get my mind around.
With all it contains within it’s set boundaries.
Yet, the writer, King David, thought it important enough to mention not only the large things, but also the small.
Take three minutes.
Anyone can carve out three minutes on a Monday morning.
Make a list of the small and insignificant things in your life that you are thankful for.
That you would miss if they were gone or not functioning as they should.
The three minutes of your day that you spend being appreciative for the small stuff…
…will impact the rest of the twenty-three hours and fifty seven minutes that you spend dealing with the big stuff.
Three minutes for the small things in your life.
