An Everyday Expression of Hope and Its Potential

An Everyday Expression of Hope

But Before Long…

January 31, 2021 by John Hembree 2 Comments

His enemies were not counting on this. In fact, they did not even think it relevant. It had been some time since they had seen him.

Even if they had, he was now less than a man, without sight, in chains, confined to a prison and working as a slave on a grinding wheel.

He was not even recognizable as to who he had once been.

He was not a threat to any one and he was a hero to no one.

His life was no longer significant.

What the enemy did not take into consideration however, was that the source of his strength, would one day return.

You may be experiencing a similar situation in your own life.

The people who once surrounded you with negative words, condescending accusations, tearing down and wearing down your passion and draining the very life out of you.

Not building you up for what you were intended to be.

They never thought that you would ever regain your strength, that you would ever regain your enthusiasm toward life, that you would ever regain your way back to the life you had once lived.

Back to a place where your life mattered, where your life was relevant and your existence impacted those around you.

Certainly the enemy did not think you would return.

As they did not him.

They counted you out long ago.

As they did him.

You made decisions that may not have been in your long term best interest.

Exactly like him.

You took on a self serving approach to life.

Much like him.

You divulged to someone close to you the source of your strength and in doing so your weakness was exposed.

You were now like any other man or woman.

Just like him.

Unfortunately, it is often the focus on our weakness that causes us to lose focus on our strength.

That is exactly what he did.

Your weakness overshadowed your strength.

But only for a time.

No one was ever counting on this…

…no one was counting on the fact that your hair was going to begin to grow again.

As your hair grows, so will your renewed strength.

So will your confidence.

So will your courage.

And so will your determination to revenge upon the enemy the loss of sight for your life and the loss of the very reason you were born.

No one is counting on that.

No one even sees it coming.

Why should they?

You have been locked away, out of sight and out of mind for a long time.

Just like him.

As he did, you already have within you that which you need most.

The determination to come back.

To be as strong as ever.

To avenge all that was lost, so that your victory in the latter part of your life will be greater than defeat in the former part.

Say to yourself, “I will no longer allow my failure and weakness to be the focus of my life. I will regain my strength.”

A quote captured me while researching this subject.

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me lay an invincible summer.” Albert Camus

God is allowing your hair to grow back, your strength to return and the worst winter of your life where everything around you seemed dead, to be over.

You are about to realize that within you there already exists your enemies worst outcome.

The return of the source of your strength.

“But before long his hair began to grow again.”  Judges 16:22
