Recently I penned a note to someone that I have only met this week.
They mentioned that they enjoy writing hand written notes.
As do I.
That they admire and appreciate the effort that goes into a well crafted note or letter.
As do I.
With that in mind, and with the onslaught of electronic messaging in many forms, I wanted to collect a few quotes regarding when one places pen to paper.
“More than kisses, letters mingle souls.”
― John Donne
“You deserve a longer letter than this; but it is my unhappy fate seldom to treat people so well as they deserve.”
― Jane Austen
“To send a letter is a good way to go somewhere without moving anything but your heart.”
― Phyllis Theroux
“Because thou writest me often, I thank thee … Never do I receive a letter from thee, but immediately we are together.”
― Seneca, Letters from a Stoic
“(S)uccessful people, no matter how busy, seem to make time to write letters.”
― Mark Demoss
“The kind of life I want is to be a person who would get a personal note every day.”
― Sara Zarr, How to Save a Life
“I am always incorrigibly interested in the behaviour of the ‘human animal’, and look forward to perusing divers effusions of your lively pen.”
― Kingsley Amis
“Your letter filled the hole in my day like a key.
Turn it.”
― Bill Callahan
By the way, guys, if you believe that the hand written note is a “girl thing”, then…
…you may also believe that Shakespeare owned a MacBook Pro and that God instructed the Apostle Paul to write his letters using Paul’s Gmail account
Love this! Still important.
So much truth here . . . who doesn’t like to receive a handwritten note???
Thanks John!
