An Everyday Expression of Hope and Its Potential

An Everyday Expression of Hope

If I Knew Then…

“If I knew then, what I know now.” We have all said it.

But what if we had known then, what we know now?

How would our lives be any different than they are presently?

It would be interesting to take a piece of paper and go back through the decisions of our life, both large and small.

Write down what we decided or had decided for us.

Then write down what is the outcome we wish we now had.

And how one either good or bad decision led to the next one and before you know it, you had an avalanche of life on top of you.

I tell young people all the time, who are in their twenties, not married with every option on the table for their life.

Listen to God now.

This is as clear as His voice is going to get.

From here on, there will be more and more noise, making it harder to hear His voice, and not all the other voices in your life.

Mortgages, children, spouses, jobs, responsibilities, this, that and every other thing.

But what then?, you might say, after the noise has set in, and all you can hear is, screaming, crying, “give me this” and “give me that”.

When the words, “you better”, and “you oughta”, seem to be a constant drum beating in your ear.

Then that is when you find your “quiet place”.

The place where the quiet voice of God drowns out all other sounds.

That place where you wish to stay, if you could, and you beg God to meet you again, at that same place.

If I had known then, what I know now, would my life be different?

In many ways, yes.

But not in all.

Look back over the course of your life and use the experiences of your past to guide the success of your future.
