An Everyday Expression of Hope and Its Potential

An Everyday Expression of Hope

My Hope

March 27, 2020 by John Hembree Leave a Comment

I was very restless last night and slept very little.

(Two bouts of unemployment and going to the food bank to get food for my family in years gone by can cause that.)

So, while reading in the middle of the night I dug into Psalm 42.

Historians believe that David may have written this Psalm in response to being hunted by Saul and / or being hunted by his son Absalom.

Much like me last night David was very restless.

He begins and ends Psalm 42 with this, “Why my soul, are you so dejected?  Why are you in such turmoil?”

However, in the midst of his restlessness David writes, “The Lord will send his faithful love by day; his song will be with me in the night – a prayer to the God of my life.”

In the middle of such turmoil he wrote those words of comfort…possibly reminding himself of a more positive time in his life.

And each time he found his soul dejected he answered with this…

…”Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God.”
