And we have been hiding ever since.
I had been invited to have dinner with Cecil “Cec” Murphey, Author, Speaker, Mentor.
He being an author, was giving me insight as to developing my own style of writing.
Cec used words like “open” “vulnerable” and “transparent” to describe his style of writing.
He then asked me what moved me, what inspired me as a writer.
Before I could even think about it, the words, “A naked heart.”, came out of my mouth.
I then said, “What moves me is when someone rips their chest open, peels their rib cage back and shows me their naked heart. That is how I want to write. With a naked heart.”
And that being the writing style I hope to accomplish.
That moment when I open the windows of my life, my soul if you will, to someone else and they to me.
Cec said, “Go on, there’s more.”
Then I said, “I want to show someone my faults, my shortcomings, my warts, my scars and my imperfections. And them accept me anyway.”
It’s what we are all looking for, hoping to find and grasping for at each and every opportunity.
Yet we hide.
Showing others our true self.
