When a cataclysmic event takes place in your life, it feels as though it will never end.
Except, down deep, you know it will.
It has to.
Pain comes and pain goes.
It’s the length of time between the word “comes” and “goes” that seems like forever.
A downward turn can not go on to infinity.
At some point the downward turn hits rock bottom.
And then there is only one way to go from there.
Up!
Even in my own life, I have felt at times that I would never find the bottom.
I knew I was going down.
That was obvious.
I just did not know how long it would take to find the bottom.
And then my downturn finally shifted into an upswing.
Hopefully the ascent will not take as long as the descent did.
You may feel as though you have been spiraling downward out of control for years.
It’s like…
…like when you first started swimming in the deep end of the pool.
You would jump off the diving board and sink, sink, sink, until you could touch the bottom of the pool and then you would boost yourself off the bottom and go back to the top.
You boosted yourself back up.
Don’t be scared.
You may be almost at the bottom.
I knew when I was approaching the bottom some years ago.
My confidence came back.
My outlook on life brightened.
As I began the ascent back up from the bottom of the pool I could see light.
As my head came out of the water I could breathe again.
Hold on, just a little longer.
If whatever you are going through, that took you down, didn’t kill you, that means you are going up.
Every downturn has an upswing.
Yours is coming.
