An Everyday Expression of Hope and Its Potential

An Everyday Expression of Hope

The Physical Effects Of Self Doubt

Self doubt

I knew there must be a correlation between physical and emotional health and self doubt.

Dr. Cynthia Thail, Cardiologist, Author and Founder of Revitalize-U, summed it up better than I ever could.

“During the first year of life, babies operate at genius levels of learning.  After the age of one there is a steady and rapid decline in high level cognitive function.”

This is the part of the brain that discovers and learns.

Why the decline?

Dr. Thail continues, “Learned self doubt.”

We are taught to doubt ourselves.

By our parents, sibling and friends.

In order to protect us from disappointment, they encourage us to not even try.

“You are not smart enough to…”

“You can’t do that because…”

“Those others girls can do that…but not you…”

“Please do not even attempt that, it will only…”

“You can’t, you don’t, you shouldn’t, you won’t.”

Dr. Thail goes on to write, “Over time, self doubt can lead to problems with anxiety and depression, physical ailments like weight gain, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue and increased mortality.”

All of this instilled in us by those who seemingly care for us the most.

Instead of listening to those who tell you what you can’t do, listen to those who are more than willing to tell you what you can do.

In fact, listen to those who want you to achieve.

Do you think you are predisposed to fail?

You are capable of “beyond belief” levels of achievement.

Consider this.

Since you have spent the previous years listening to the voice that tell you what, “You could not, should not, can not, will not, do,” spend the days and years going forward listening  to the voices that say, “You absolutely can do it and you will.”

Your future is so bright.

It is going to be filled with even more that you could think, ask for or imagine.
