Thirty minutes in learning about someone else’s country of origin is…well, it’s…
…enlightening to say the least.
Once per week I ask someone not born in the United States to go grab a coffee.
Fortunately I work in a very international environment.
For example, I invited Roger to enlighten me regarding South Africa. I sent the invite, we sat down over a Starbucks beverage and Roger spent the next 30 minutes educating me in what I call South Africa 101.
The week before Julio taught me Mexico 101 including great insights as to the border debate.
This week Awudu will teach me Ghana 101.
The following week, Sriganesh will teach me India 101.
And so on.
My goal between now and the end of 2019 is to learn more about at least fifty two countries.
We do not have because we do not ask.
We do not find because we do not seek.
And the answers to our lack of knowledge are all around us.
