An Everyday Expression of Hope and Its Potential

An Everyday Expression of Hope

An Unexpected Visit

April 12, 2016 by John Hembree 2 Comments

UnexpectedYou know how you have thoughts pop in your head at times?

I just had an unexpected one come out of nowhere.

Here it is.

How many sins can cover up the grace and mercy of Christ?

None of them.

But how many sins are covered by the grace and mercy of Christ?

All of them.

Sometimes God just swoops in on me in a moment to remind me how much He loves me…no matter what…He loves me.

I am sitting at my desk with tears in my eyes overwhelmed by the fact that He loves me that much.

To do that.

I did not have a biological  father to love me, but I have a Heavenly Father that is so good to me.

He is so good to me.

How did this moment come about?

A picture…of a friend of mine, Miranda Hammock and her father during the Father Daughter Dance on the day of her wedding to my friend Nathan Hammock.

It triggered my memory of what song was playing during that dance.

So while I was sitting here on a Tuesday evening at my desk, looking over a stack of bills, I was playing the song, Good Good Father, by Chris Tomlin, which was playing as Miranda and her father danced.

I played the song over and over.

And I became so overwhelmed by how good He is.

And how He has made His goodness known to me, and simply that He would visit me on a Tuesday evening, to remind me of how much He loves me.

Totally overwhelmed, hardly able to type and see the screen as tears stream down my face.

His expression to me…He as the most powerful force, and He thought enough of me on this quiet evening to stop what He was doing and visit with me for a moment.

To simply tell me He loves me.

John……This was such a wonderful blessing this morning! Thanks so much for sharing your heart
with us! And what a thought about God’s grace and mercy.
I can remember my great grandmother always that God’s broom and dustpan were “goodness and
mercy’…..because it says in the Bible, Surely ‘goodness and mercy’ shall follow me all the days of
my life. She said that was him sweeping up the messes we make!

All I can say is, “Yes!”
