“O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.” King David
You can call it any number of things…heart to heart, soul to soul, spirit to spirit…
…whatever you wish to call it, it is how God connects to us.
He knows me.
He knows you.
One of the most intimate phrases that a person can say to another is, “I know you.”
It means nothing about you has escaped me.
I know every meaning of every word you speak.
I know your soul, your heart and your spirit.
In Psalm 139, there is an intimate description of the relationship between God and man.
“You know everything about me.”
“You know when I sit or stand.”
“When far away you know my every thought.”
“Every moment you know where I am.”
“You know what I am going to say before I even say it.”
“Search me, O God, and know my heart.”
And what should our request be to someone that loves us and knows us that deeply, that intimately?
“Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad.”
Somewhere, tomorrow, to someone, I am going to have the opportunity to say,
“Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad.”
I don’t yet know to who I will direct this statement, but it will happen.
I want to be known that intimately.
The reason so few people truly experience God’s love is that they have not experienced what it is to be known by Him.
