Possibly my all time favorite quote begins the book, The Red Sea Rules, by Robert J. Morgan.
“The Lord will make a way for you where no foot has been before. That which, like a sea, threatens to drown you, shall be a highway for your escape.” Charles H. Spurgeon
One of the shortest and most effective prayers we can pray at times is, “God, help me!”
Oversimplifying?
I do not think so.
To Christians and non-Christians alike, Exodus 14 is an inspiring chapter in the Bible.
A sea in front, mountains to each side and an army quickly approaching behind.
Oh…and you are the leader and a couple million people are gathered with you, looking at you for leadership and a solution.
Certain death is in all directions.
Your least inviting option is to move forward into the waters of the sea.
Yet, wouldn’t you know, that is the option God would pick.
Makes no sense.
Step forward.
Gonna drown.
Step forward.
This is surely the end.
Step forward.
And when they did, and when you do…
…the Red Sea did open up, and yours will as well.
But you gotta step forward.
Gonna lose my house.
Step forward.
This will probably cost me my job.
Step forward.
What if no one follows?
Step forward.
The least likely option is probably the God option.
Step forward.
“Many times you have miraculously rescued me.” Psalm 18:50 (TLB)
John
I’m enjoying these short reads. Keep up the amazing work!
