The Seasons Of Your Life

October 4, 2014 by John Hembree Leave a Comment

Seasons

We each have a favorite season of the year.

Our ranking of seasons might be influenced by proximity to where we reside, by our work, allergies, even memories from our lives can influence our favorite and least favorite season.

We know from the book of Ecclesiastes there is a season and a time for everything.

We know from agricultural science to meteorological science there is a purpose for each season.

We know that based on the earth’s rotation, to the axis and positioning, to latitudes, to solar and lunar patterns we are affected by the varying seasons.

And as we put some years behind us, we associate parts of our lives with seasons of our life.

We knew they would pass and a different season would follow.

However, it was at times hard to want to relive that particular season in our life.

That difficult period may have been caused by a death, a divorce, a demotion, a dysfunctional period, even a diaspora, where we were separated from those we love, for any number of reasons.

College, military service, relocation of employment, among other things.

However, we can be assured, finding comfort and confidence in the fact that God goes through each season of our life with us.

Both, those we enjoy and those we do not.

Beware of the changing seasons.

They are never a surprise.

They are indicated by so many signs.

The temperature gradually rising or falling.

Trees shedding or growing their coverings.

And all for a purpose.

Your change of seasons also have a purpose.

Know that they are coming.

You will go through them.

The season that you do not like will be followed by one that you love.

Seasons always pass and are always followed by a different season.

Circumstances also pass and they are also followed by a different set of circumstances.

But God’s love is consistent through them all.

It does not change.

It does not blossom, then bloom, then shed, then die.

Be patient if you are going through a season where there are challenges in front of you, consequences from challenges behind you, and stress and distress on every side of you.

“This too shall pass.”

And you will be stronger for it.

Don’t be impatient.

Keep moving forward.

“Don’t be impatient for the Lord to act!  Keep traveling steadily along his path-way and in due season he will honor you with every blessing.”  Psalm 39:34 (TLB)
