An Everyday Expression of Hope and Its Potential

An Everyday Expression of Hope

“Does She Do That Every Morning?” by Jessica Arnold

Teachers II

I sat at the kidney shaped table in my classroom early one morning having a meeting with a speech therapist from the county office when she came by.

She stuck her head in my room and said, “Good morning!”

The speech therapist and I both looked up and responded.

She kept walking.

The speech therapist got right back on topic, and continued with discussing the things she came to talk to me about.

When all of a sudden in mid-sentence, she stopped herself and asked, “Does she do that every morning?”

With a smile and sense of appreciation, I replied, “Yes!”

The speech therapist looked shocked and just said, “Wow!”

Our meeting continued.

What happened in that moment briefly described you may ask?

The principal made a point to come by my classroom to say good morning.

Not just my classroom.

But all the classrooms.

And not just that day. Every day.

Do something that makes people question, “Does she do that every day?’, or,  “Does he do that every day?”

Wow people by being you.

You never know the magnitude of the “small things” that you do.

They do not go unnoticed.

“Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:20

We often try and make life so complicated when it really is the little things that make a difference. We just have to notice and make the effort.
