An Everyday Expression of Hope and Its Potential

An Everyday Expression of Hope

A Gracious Way To Say It’s Over

September 6, 2014 by John Hembree Leave a Comment

Gracious

Written in a journal.

Just after midnight.

Following a sound and convincing defeat.

“Now to bed, prepared to face tomorrow: Be strong, be kind, he generous of spirit, be understanding and let people know how grateful you are.  Don’t get even.  Comfort the ones I’ve hurt and let down.  Say your prayers and ask for God’s understanding and strength.  Finish with a smile and some gusto and do what’s right and finish strong.”

A beautiful way to say, God lead me from here.

Written by President George H. W. Bush in his personal journal, after being defeated for re-election for the Presidency by Governor Bill Clinton.
