A couple of years ago, a video on youtube began making the rounds.
It was titled, “Just Look At It!”
One of the toughest challenges in life can be self examination.
If we are honest, we will see the not so pretty, before we see the pretty.
When we look at our own lives, we are generally our own harshest critics.
For that reason, there is really no need for others to criticize us.
Or for us to criticize any one else for that matter.
We are each quite aware of the problems.
We would be better served, and serve better, by showing others the positive we see in them.
Their gifts.
Their talents.
Leave the criticism to one’s own self.
In light of that, let me encourage you, in a light hearted way, over the next few days, look at your life.
Yes, you will find some damage, dents and dings
Look at them.
Study them.
How did they get there?
You can learn a lot by an introspective examination.
You will survive it.
It won’t be fatal.
In the end, you will be better off because of it.
Just look at it.
“Let us examine ourselves instead, and let us repent and turn again to the Lord.” Lamentations 3:40 (TLB)
