The kitchen is not an area of the house where I am most comfortable.
Cooking or baking is not something I look forward to participating in.
However, about six years ago, I decided to try out my baking skills.
Upon hearing a comment on the radio regarding a “kitty litter cake” I thought I would look into this idea.
My daughters and I went to the store, purchased the ingredients which included an actual kitty litter pan, scoop and the additional ingredients for baking the cake.
It turned out great and we took it to a family gathering.
Problem is, that no one would taste it.
It looked like…well…like a kitty litter box. (Reference picture attached)
People would stare at it but no one was willing to try it out.
Why?
It’s appearance.
It did not appear on the outside to be as good as it was eventually determined to be on the inside.
We view people the same way.
In some countries, the wider the gap in the teeth, the more beautiful the person is considered.
In the United States, we take the same gap tooth smile to the orthodontist.
Mirrors can be our own worst enemy.
We view ourselves and others based upon what is visible to the naked eye.
The external.
We deny it.
Yet we do it.
Thinner, wider, taller, shorter, lotta hair, little hair and no hair.
One of the greatest gifts we have been given, our eye sight, keeps us from seeing ourselves and others as we truly should be seen.
Purpose to close your eyes and see the true beauty of another person.
Determine that you will be judged only by your inner strength.
Refuse to let yourself be seen in any other way.
“Let your adornment be the inner person of the heart.” I Peter 3:4
