Jesus was and remains the specific hope for the world. Even before his birth, the hope and dreams that surrounded Christ’s life was already at work.
In the first chapter of Matthew, verses eighteen through twenty-one, it says Mary was with a child of the Holy Spirit. When Joseph became aware of this he must have felt that it was hopeless for Mary to ever become his wife.
His specific solution of hope came in verse twenty where it says, “But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream.” The angel gave Joseph the name of the child and said, “That which is conceived of her is of the Holy Spirit.”
Joseph found that Jesus would be the solution for his people, for the angel said, “He will save his people from their sins.”
Jesus was not a solution for society. God had made him the conception of hope to be birthed by Mary as God gave specific directions to Joseph in a dream. Joseph did not need encouragement to be patient. He needed hope with specific direction.
Three separate times in the second chapter of Matthew, Joseph is directed by dreams on how he is to move in the care of this solution of hope he had been entrusted with.
What hope have you been entrusted with? And for what purpose?
