“He that has satisfied his thirst turns his back on the well.”
It really makes me laugh sometimes where God plants inspiration.
This time a commercial is to blame for you having to suffer through one of my rants.
What makes it more interesting is that I have only recently defeated a problem with alcohol and this was a beer commercial.
It is one of the really annoying ones that you’ve seen a thousand times, with the man that is referred to as “the most interesting man in the world”.
He always tells us, his friends, to stay thirsty.
I actually began to think about that today.
And yes, it might be cheesy, by I am about to draw this parallel anyway.
I have met many of my fellow Christians that think they know all there is to know about their faith.
They go through the motions at church, listening to a man or woman in the pulpit who they don’t believe could possibly have anything else to say to them.
I am a huge advocate, as is well documented, of the idea that we don’t know quite as much as we think.
But then I receive a message from an individual today.
I will not give his or her name name…I’m not sure he or she would appreciate that.
But the individual began asking me questions.
Questions about God.
Questions that were quite honestly tough questions. I felt idiotic trying to answer them.
Not only because they were on religious subjects that were over my head, but because they were infested with that weird text message lingo that I have yet to master.
But even I, bombarded with the “LOL”s and the “BRB”s, could see the curiosity. Even I could see the need for answers.
Answers that I didn’t have.
I tried to think of the word I would use to describe this person’s tenaciousness. And then it came in the commercial: thirsty.
It made me think, though.
How many out there don’t seek Him out?
I know I have a tendency to fall into a groove.
To not move in a positive direction.
To stay static.
We have to keep learning, because we all find ourselves in those situations: without the answers when we really need them.
And because I know Someone much more interesting who is worth it.
Isaiah 44:3-For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
Stay thirsty, my friends.
Vaya con Dios
