An Everyday Expression of Hope and Its Potential

An Everyday Expression of HopeĀ

Thank you Jamaul,,,

July 18, 2012 by John Hembree Leave a Comment

I stepped outside of my office building and in walking to my car saw a post-it note. Because I try to eradicate litter I picked it up to throw it away. When I turned the note over, I found the following written,

Jamaul,

Just wanted to say “thank u”. Love, Me

Now, I don’t know who Jamaul is and I do not know who “Me” is. But what I do know from this short note is that there was an action by Jamaul, which required a return action of appreciation by “Me”.

And that got me thinking such a simple thought. Who have I not thanked for a recent expression of kindness toward me?

Is it Danny McClain for continuing to help me through automotive mechanical land mines with our family cars? Is it Andy and Cindy Howard for inviting our family to a birthday cookout for their son Austin? Is it Paul Smith for just being a kind soul every time I see him?

The list could go on and on. The short of it is this. There are people like Jamaul who people like “me” need to thank.

What is a thank you? Here’s the definition.

“A polite expression used when acknowledging a gift, service, or compliment, or accepting or refusing an offer.”

And if you and I have not thanked some people, there is a pretty good chance you and I have not thanked God for a few things. Just guessing.

Take a minute today and thank some folks who need it. It will probably make their day upon receiving it and I know it will make yours upon expressing it.

Nothing earth shattering or revealing in this blog. Just a simple reminder for me to express my personal appreciation to someone, anyone, who has extended their life into mine and left a positive imprint.
