Remember the song from Disney’s Toy Story? Written by Randy Newman. Has to be one of the most hummable songs ever written.
And I did, early this morning. Why it popped up in my head I do not know, but I do know, it would not, and will not go away now that it has arrived.
It is one of my favorites so I will guess it will be with me for the day.
What a great message it has…for all of us.
We each, on this day, even at this very moment, need a friend and can be a friend. It is a very simple process with profound effects.
Just yesterday, a very close friend of mine was sharing with me that they are going to be making some very tough decisions in the near future, decisions that will affect the lives of their family and beyond. As they shared their heart, I was thinking this, “John, do not try to offer any answers or solutions, you don’t have any anyway. Just listen and be a friend.”
And that is what I did. I listened and was their friend.
The Bible has so many scriptures regarding friendship. You can probably quote most of them.
I would encourage you today, Make yourself available to be a friend. Even someone you have never met before may be seeking you out and you not even be aware.
Go to the link provided and begin humming the song, “You’ve Got A Friend In Me.” It will be as stuck in your head as the friend you reach out to will be stuck in your heart.
