This evening I went to a local high school where my daughter attends and ran the bleachers and put in some walking time to burn off a few calories I had picked up during the day.
It was raining pretty hard and I enjoyed the focus it seemed to bring in the effort of exercise. And it allowed me to think for a few moments.
I reflected back on the blog from last evening and how I had so enjoyed reading Psalm 73. Maybe there was even more in there I had missed last night.
So, upon returning home from the school I re-opened Psalm 73 and re-read it and there I found this phrase in verse twenty eight. And I really liked it from the New American Standard Version.
“But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Thy works.”
Specifically the phrase that caught my attention was, “the nearness of God is my good.”
Going into a new week with challenges both foreseen and unforeseen, who can not use that phrase as encouragement.
That could make for a life type verse. A reminder verse.
In approaching the new week, first, consider how to bring about the nearness of God for your own life. And in determining that, meditate on the fact that his nearness does not bring about my good…
…it is my good.
