Typically this blog is used as an instrument of encouragement, hope and to point those who would read it toward God.
For possibly the next few entries, I am wanting to pose a question, a thought, an idea. And I not trying to make these super polished entries but rather writing them as they come out, a curious look as to the intent of God.
The last few days I have contemplated why does God place things in our lives that we are not to see, not to touch, not to have, not to seek, not to pursue, not to desire? Yet, there they are. Right there, right in front of us. And we want to see, want to touch, want to have, want to seek, pursue and we desire that which is in plain view. Its right there in front of us!
And what makes it even more interesting? It is often something that might otherwise be pleasurable. Yet we deprive ourselves of that which we otherwise want.
For example. We have each read the account of the Garden Of Eden, the serpent came to Eve, she ate, Adam ate, and all that.
My question is this. Why did God place something so inviting right in front of them and tell them not to partake of it? Eat it and you die basically. Not even basically, that is what the scripture says.
In verse two it even says, “but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, “You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.”
Then why was it there? Was this a test of obedience? Was it there to test the endurance and strength of Adam and Eve to see how long they could hold out?
But they could not do it. They both touched it and ate from it.
What is in your life that possibly God has placed there and you know you are not to touch it or go anywhere near it? Can you name it? It may be multiple things.
How do you deal with this? Is it a constant day in / day out battle? Mine tend to be. And for each of us they are all different.
I would be curious as to feedback from readers with the following question.
Why would God put something so beautiful in your life and then tell you not to touch it?
Send me some feedback and I will share it as well.
Tomorrow night – The Ark of the Covenant. Could not touch that either.
Just curious as to all of this.
