A Little Bit Bout Heaven

April 11, 2012 by John Hembree Leave a Comment

This week’s Time magazine, April 16, 2012, has a cover story on heaven.

Yes, there is one. But I will not try to explain what will go on there. In fact, though not a theologian, and though the Bible gives us glimpses of what it will be like, I am often turned off by preachers and teachers who give a description of how it will be when in fact, unless one has gone and come back to tell the rest, no one really knows what it will be like nor where it is;

Such a mystery. In fact, I have not spent a lot of time thinking about heaven as I tend to put more energy on living out one’s life here as Christ rather than focused on where we will one day spend all of eternity.

Eternity is such a large concept I am not sure if it does any good to try and grasp it. How do you grasp an event or continuing time that never ends.

So it’s fun to read the articles and it’s interesting to discuss what heaven might be like. For me, no pain, no loss, no heartaches is enough for me to look forward to it.

Needless to say its’ real and we should be ready to go there, wherever there is. But just as hell is a place of separation from God heven is a place of continuous peace in the very nearness of God. What’s not to love about that.

Just where my thoughts are tonight. Thinking a little bit bout heaven.
