HOPE FOLLOWS ME HOPE LEADS ME

Have you ever  known anyone that has a specific number that shows up throughout their life or keeps popping up at the oddest times?  I know someone like that.  Our youngest daughter has the number 47 pop up all the time.  It is very interesting.  I have witnessed this when it happens.  The time, an address, a temperature, 47 comes up a lot.  I do not know what this means if anything. I even found a website that discusses this but it caused me to have more questions than find answers.

I do not have a number.  It would be kind of interesting if I did.  I have a word that follows me.  That word is “hope”.  I don’t know why, but, it shows up all the time.  Remember in the movie Evan Almighty and the number 6:14 was everywhere?  That is the way I experience the word hope.

It will be on a display, someone will say it, will hear it in a song, etc.  It happens a lot.  So for the past several years I have taken a keen interest in this word.  When I have asked others as to what they consider the definition of hope it will usually be associated with the word “wish”.  Hope is so much more than a wish.  I can wish for something with no real expectation of it happening.  However, if I hope, truly hope, that it will, then I have a confidence it will happen though I see how or not.  When we put our Hope in God there is a quiet strength that God will be there when we need him most.

So for 2012, what are you hoping for?  Finances, health, more friends, less friends, better success at school, less school altogether, a husband, a wife?  What if we were to place our hope in 2012 totally and fully in God.  Would it change the outcome for the year?  I believe it would.

“But hope that is seen is no hope at all.  Who hopes for what he already has?  But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”  Romans 8:24-25

What if you knew that what you hoped for on January 1st, 2012, would not happen until December 31, 2012, would you still be patient enough to wait for it?

List a few things you hope for in 2012.  Put them away with the above scripture written out as well.  Be patient and wait.

Be confident in Hope.
