1:53 a.m. the night of the 25th or the morning of the 26th, you call it. Either way it is late. Wonderful day of faith, family, friends, fellowship and food.
But what now o Christmas past? Since Thanksgiving it has been a season of miracles for our family. Not the “Please God, help me find my car keys”, kind of miracles. Miracles of impact. I like that way that sounds. Miracles of impact.
The week between Christmas and the New Year is difficult for many, including me. Do I look back and remember or do I look forward and dream. Probably a little of both.
Proverbs 4:25-26 are great verses for what I call the “fuzzy week”. They say,
“Let your eyes look directly ahead, And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you.
Watch the path of your feet, And all your ways will be established.”
I would challenge you to do the following. On a piece of paper write 2011 in the center of the page. On each side of the number list one thing you wish had not happened and on the other side one thing you are glad did happen. Then write 2012 on the bottom of the page and again list one thing you hope not to happen in 2012 and one thing you hope certainly happens in 2012. Then draw a straight line between 2011 and 2012. Nothing miraculous will take place, but, what you will have is a reminder of what transpired in the past, and, what you want to happen in the future. Establish your ways and your path today so that you can with great confidence approach 2012 already mentally and spiritually prepared. Then you just have to take care of the rest on the field.
As you approach 2012 ask God to help you carry Hope to all you come in contact with both near and far.
