I have a friend, Stacy, (not her real name), elementary school teacher, changing the world one child at a time. She has been challenged by multiple sclerosis and battles it every day. Just walking has become more and more difficult.
Me? I enjoy long distance walking for exercise and I have a prayer I say at least once on each long walk. “God, give me the strength to do this again tomorrow and give Stacy the strength to do this today.”
Earlier this year I jotted her a note with that prayer in it. She was very appreciative and thanked me. As I walked earlier today, I once again said that prayer. And as I continued my route I began to apply that prayer to my own life. Do I pray that same prayer for the spiritual walk of those around me? Do I pray God give others strength to walk in courage, in faith, in hope. For parents to guide and guard their children. For each of us to stay strong and focused in our purpose on this earth. Do I do that each day? No. Will I do this tomorrow? Absolutely.
We all stumble at times on our journey of faith. May we ask God to open our eyes so that we might see that so many around us are struggling in their walk through life. May we pick others up when they stumble, encourage them, bolster their faith and give them Hope so that God might strengthen them and that they might continue to walk, both this day and tomorrow.
