Expressions of the heart are often confined by the time needed to express them.
Over the course of a life, time is something we run out of quickly.
We regret by what we did not say.
We are saddened by what we did not do.
But God knows our hearts.
He hears the words we did not say.
He receives the expressions that we did not have time to fully deliver.
He created the years which divides us.
He looks upon the souls that unite us.
He distinguishes between right and wrong when I can not.
He guides me when I have lost my way.
He sees for me that which I can not, for I am blinded by my own desires.
He speaks to me the lessons I am too deaf to learn.
He has broken my heart so that I might understand what breaks His.
He places that which is beautiful in my life.
He shows me His image through others.
I have kissed the lips of a perfect life.
And yet I hunger for more.
I know there is more.
And as often as I wish to stop searching, that never satisfied hunger pushes me forward.
He may keep from me that which I want most.
But in his grace and mercy, though I may not have that which I want, He has allowed me to see it.
And for that, on this night, I am grateful.
