It just comes up and I do.
Sitting in church and on one side of me was a woman I have known since we were teenagers growing up in a small rural Georgia town.
It was at the end of the service and the announcements were being read.
I turned to her and said, “What is your greatest gift?”
She proceeded to stammer and then try to explain how she did not have one great gift.
How that she was good at several things but had never found what she was great at.
She said she wanted find what she could be remembered for.
I accepted that momentarily and then turned to her again.
I said, “I am not buying what you are selling. I believe you do know your gift whether you acknowledge it or not. It is already placed within you from birth.”
I encouraged her to re-read Psalm 139 to see how God created her specifically and give her special gifts that she must find.
Then later that evening I received a text from a college age student.
I had also pressed her regarding her gifts.
She asked me what I felt they were.
I replied, “God has already put it within you. Look for it as you would a buried treasure.”
We each must dig for the buried treasure within us.
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.” Matthew 13:44
I would encourage you as this during this week to renew your search for your God given gift.
Find your buried treasure.
It is already there.
You simply have to find it.
